These were once thought to be Italian Carcanos but we now know they were produced at the Raleigh Arsenal formerly known as the North Carolina Institute for the Deaf,Dumb and Blind. This is M&M # 200 and T&T # 178. There are three varieties of these crude bullets and this,the .58 caliber is the rarest by far. These are rare in any condition and this is one is better than the few you will see offered for sale with distinct rings and nice patina. Recovered decades ago on private property with permission near the New Bern,NC Battlefield.
