    Description

    For sale is a antique H.D. Smith Co. Perfect Handle split wood handle design monkey wrench, weighing 1lb.5.3 ounces. Signed "The H.D. Smith & Co. Pat'd Oct 30-1890  Jan 6-1901  Feb 26  1901 Made In U.S.A. Perfect Handle", it has excellent 3/4" wide jaws, and a 1" capacity, and measures 8-11/16" long. It is in excellent overall condition, with sound and solid handles, but the capacity is somewhat diminished because the adjusting nut will not turn any more when it reaches a 1" capacity. It's maximum capacity is shown in the first and fifth pictures. This is a very desirable and highly collectible item, especially with the three early patent dates. The previous owner has put a generous amount of a grease lubricant on the steel to prevent oxidation, and while it's done its job very well over many years, you may want to remove some of it.{??} Please view all of the pictures to determine condition for yourself. {Inventory Tag #342 White} Please check out my eBay store for hundreds of vintage tools and estate finds.
